Originally set up in 2002, Libélula is an innovative womenswear fashion label that has enjoyed a speedy growth and international success. Libélula opened up its London flagship showroom in Chelsea in 2007, while keeping its creative “atelier” on Spain’s Costa La Luz coast.

Run by Sophie Cranston & Caroline Morris, Libélula has a philosophy of creating über-flattering shapes & colourful prints for modern women of all ages who are style savvy without being slaves to a trend.

Cranston won the prestigious Designer of the Year Award at Graduate Fashion Week in 1999, an accolade shared with such luminaries as John Galliano, Christopher Bailey and Alexander McQueen. Upon graduation Cranston moved to Hong Kong where she worked for Lulu Cheung. In Hong Kong days, Sophie met Alice Temperley - they returned to the UK together to set up Temperley in 2000. After a successful two years with Temperley, Sophie headed to Southern Spain to set up Libélula (“Dragonfly” in Spanish), whilst studying the language and Flamenco.

Before joining Libélula, Morris pursued a career at UK fashion magazines Harper’s Bazaar, Red & then In Style before going freelance. An opportunity at Christina Ong’s Club 21 in 2005 gave Morris the chance to work on the Luella Bartley global license.

The Libélula philosophy is to design clothes that flatter, drawing on both modern & vintage references, using vivid colour palettes & unique prints at accessible price points.

Each season, Libélula teams up with contemporary London artist Alice Gates who designs two prints for the collection.

Libélula is currently stocked in boutiques across the UK including Austique and The Jacksons and various key international stockists in Milan, Athens, New Zealand & Saudi Arabia amongst others.
